Data Migration from WordPress and WooCommerce

A process that is typically straightforward, especially since we weren't dealing with a massive product catalog, turned out to be quite tedious. Although I initially thought I could migrate the data via CSV exports using various plugins, I couldn't find a single extension that successfully exported all the specific data points I needed. This highlights a major downside of the WordPress ecosystem, where theme and plugin developers often write code in non-standard ways, leaving data heavily fragmented across the database.

The solution was to connect directly to a copy of the production database. After writing a meticulous migration script, the data was successfully mapped and moved exactly where and how it belonged in the new structure.

The Impact of Moving to V-CMS 1.0

Following the launch of the new platform, Simba's Group experienced a noticeable boost in organic traffic and significantly better efficiency in their marketing campaigns. However, as their market segment has become much more competitive in the meantime, we have already initiated the transition to upgrade the catalog into a fully-fledged e-commerce store using the modern V-CMS 2.0 architecture.
