What is the Geronimo factory?
Geronimo is a Romanian brand from Orăștie, established in 2001, and renowned for manufacturing high-quality apparel. Although the factory is equipped with modern machinery, the focus of this project was to build the system around the human resource, empowering and supporting the production team's expertise.
About the Project
This software represents a major milestone in my career, as successfully implementing it required leveraging my entire accumulated experience. A significant advantage was my previous involvement in developing an enterprise ERP built with Symfony. This process gave me a clear vision of how to design a PHP architecture capable of handling massive volumes of data, even with a controlled number of users.
The result is a production-driven warehouse system that natively connects the product catalog, raw materials, production orders, serialized inventory, and final sales. From the Bill of Materials (BOM) all the way to the barcode.
Key Features
Catalog and BOM (Bill of Materials)
- Product models, variations, categories, pricing, and VAT rules.
- Configurable Bills of Materials (BOM) per product variation.
Raw Materials and Stock
- Management of material models and variants, featuring direct reception into stock.
- FIFO-based inventory depletion for both raw materials and finished products.
- Multi-warehouse management, transfers between locations, and a complete history of stock movements.
Production
- Production orders with BOM snapshots (saving the recipe at the exact moment of launch) and configurable steps.
- Serialized products (a unique code generated for each physical unit).
- Real-time monitoring (Live Dashboard) of orders across production stages.
Traceability and Sales
- QR code generation and scanning, with fast lookup by code.
- Sales module accessible from the admin panel or directly via mobile.
- Client data retrieval and accurate VAT regime application upon checkout.
Reports and Administration
- Advanced dashboard with charts (order trends, sales, stock levels, production times).
- Role-based user permission system, notifications, and a comprehensive audit log.
- Configurable alerts (Email / Push / SMS) and asynchronous processes (Cron/Scheduled Jobs).
Technical Details and Architecture
The Geronimo Warehouse system is grounded in the V-CMS 2.0 architecture. The main backend challenge was ensuring data remains flawless under any circumstance. To prevent database corruption or pollution in the event of a logical or network error, all critical operations are executed exclusively via SQL transactions. Coupled with a custom logging system, any anomaly can be instantly identified and isolated, guaranteeing inventory integrity.
For the precision of financial calculations and material consumption, the system utilizes the BCMath extension, eliminating the classic rounding errors associated with float data types in PHP.
The choice of MariaDB as the database was driven by stability and its performance in non-blocking backup scenarios, as well as strict data recovery mechanisms (Point-in-Time Recovery). The entire development philosophy behind this software was guided by a single objective: the absolute correctness of data.
